Teen Abstinence Project (TAP)

Generally, MI seems to be supportive of abstinence education. Across the state are lots of collaborative relationships between schools, abstinence programs, pregnancy centers, and other youth organizations. All of which believe that youth can make positive choices for themselves and deserve to hear the truth about the dangers and consequences of engaging in sex before marriage.

Abstinence education empowers teens to avoid risk by making good health decisions, regardless of their sexual history. Abstinence means to voluntarily refrain from sexual activity including, but not limited to, sexual intercourse. For more information on the Teen Abstinence Project (TAP), visit the Parents for Truth website at www.parentsfortruth.org and click on the "What's Happening in Your State?" tab for a list of Michigan State Representatives.
